“Oh… wow. That’s unique…. is it something you can control?” She takes a cautious step back. “Or does it all of a sudden take over like a werewolf?”
“Don’t worry. I can control it. I’m still me when I’m the tiger, and the moon doesn’t make me change. I get an itch and feel like I want to change when it’s a full moon, but it doesn’t control me.”
“Ohh, I see…. well that’s good. Were you born this way or.. were you, like, bitten?”
“According to my sister, we are born this way.”
She smiles, “Ah, well, lucky you.”
“I guess. I mean… I didn’t know what I was until I first shifted when I hit puberty. I grew up with humans. When they found me, they had no idea what I was so I grew up not knowing.”
“I’m so sorry to hear that… that must have been hard, especially when you suddenly turned into a tiger and had no idea what was going on. Are your human parents alright with it now?”
“It’s alright. My human parents were okay with it from the moment I changed. They still would be alright with it. I outlived them, though.” She shrugged. “I met my sister recently, and she’s helping me learn everything about what we are.”
“What a shame. It’s good that they supported you while they could though. I wish you and your sister well.” She smiled, “At least you two have eachother.”

Oh, how interesting. *She looks down at Tigereye, smiles, and gives her head a gentle rub* I never thought to have a companion out at sea with me. 90 years is a long time … are you both immortal?
*Tigereye barked happily and bounced around them.*
She’s surprisingly good at sea and loves the water. Yes it is, no not quite. We are elf-folk, we cannot die of age but can be killed in war or disease like my father.
My condolences about your father… I have never met an elf before. *She smiled* I bet watching time go by and the world evolve was quite an experience then.

“It’s a pleasure, Captain.” She bows her head and glances at the wolf by her side. “And who might this be? Awfully friendly for a wild animal.”
This is Tigereye, my companion. She’s been at my side for 90 years. Yes she is, but if commanded or thinks I’m in danger will become quite dangerous.
*Tigereye moves closer to Sonya with her ears perked.*
